Prospective homeowners may not know exactly what their dream home looks like, but when they see it, they instantly know it’s “the one.” This was the case for the current homeowners of 347 South Drive in Severna Park, who looked at about 70 houses in the Annapolis area before they found their home. One of the homeowners had already toured the house with their realtor and absolutely loved it. So the couple made plans to go see it together.
Unfortunately, before they had the opportunity to do so, the house was already under contract. But sometimes the unexpected happens, and a second chance presents itself—whether due to fate, luck, or timing. So when the contract fell through, they knew they had to act quickly.
“We went to see the home, and when we left the showing, we went to Starbucks with our realtor and immediately put in an offer,” says the homeowners.
“The entire house has an incredible feel to it: the high ceilings, the rounded corners. It’s as if it was lovingly constructed—so luxurious and friendly—and when people walk in our home, they feel at ease.”
The luxurious, cozy waterfront home, which is situated on a private half-acre wooded lot and surrounded by extensive landscaping, offers an idyllic lifestyle. The spacious home features numerous living spaces, including up to six bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, a media room, a family room, an exercise room with a pool, and a mudroom. Exterior features of the property include three decks, a screened-in porch, a deep-water pier with two boat lifts and a slip, and a guest house. In addition, the home features $400,000 in recent upgrades.
“One great feature about our home is that we use the entire house,” says the homeowners. “There are no rooms that get dusty with disuse. The kitchen is very functional, and we love cooking there. The wall of tall windows looking out on the water is amazing. The size of the main living area is also very functional and comfortable. And the TV room is such a cool space with amazing sound. We use it all the time, and our Super Bowl parties have been memorable. Another reason we love our home is because we can enjoy our privacy. There is a sense of peace and tranquility even when guests are here. They can gather together or enjoy time on their own because there are so many options on the benches, porches, hammocks, and decks. People love visiting our home.”
Indeed, when the homeowners describe their home, it’s obvious that it truly is “the one” and that they love everything about it, including the lifestyle it offers.
“We love our coffee bar in the master bedroom,” says the homeowners. “We lie in bed while reading the paper on our iPads and drinking coffee. We feel spoiled—like ‘pinch yourself’spoiled—when we wake up here. We also love the exercise room, especially the small exercise pool. We installed an Endless Pool four years ago. There is nothing like going downstairs in your own home and jumping in your own pool. But if the buyer of our home doesn't prefer to have an indoor pool, we will remove it at our expense as part of the contract.
"Our house also has lovely gardens. The waterfront area is tiered with a flat lawn at the top and flower gardens all the way to the water, including a swamp garden at the water’s edge. And there are bird houses tucked here and there from the street to the water. It is a colorful, joyful place. We also love the convenience of having a guest house, which has been very useful. Boating and being on the waterfront is marvelous. We are in a little protected cove, and we kayak, paddleboard, and take out our boats. Our guests often fish off the pier, and we all swim off the dock. And at night, sometimes we start a fire in the fire pit by the water and roast marshmallows.”
And that’s not all: The homeowners are delighted with all of the unique details that add a touch of history and make their home truly special, including the built-ins, the rounded corners on all the walls, the beams from an old barn in Virginia, the second-story floors that were remilled from the old cabin that used to stand on the site, and the log walls in the family room that were remilled from lumber found under the old cabin that stood where their house now stands.
In addition to owning a beautiful waterfront home that they absolutely adore, the homeowners also love their community.
“Our neighbors are very friendly,” says the homeowners. “We have the benefit of privacy when we want it, but we can also socialize. Having the marina nearby is great. Plus, we are close to everything in Severna Park, and the schools are amazing.”
The homeowners are selling their home because their family situation has changed in such a way that they must move closer to family. But they would definitely recommend their dream home to any buyer.
“This home offers such a pampered lifestyle,” says the homeowners. “We just really, really love living here.”
