When the current homeowners of 719 Magothy Road in Arnold describe their home, it’s obvious that they absolutely love living on the water. Indeed, their home is not only a veritable paradise for boating enthusiasts but also a dream home—the perfect setting to enjoy all the delights of waterfront living.
“We were living in a wonderful water view home in the same neighborhood, but we wanted a waterfront home at an affordable price,” says the homeowners. “We knew the owner and some of the character of the home, so when he wanted to sell, we were very interested even though we knew the home needed many improvements and updates. The most attractive feature is the waterfront with great water depth for a powerboat and sailboat. The fact that we were able to purchase the home at a price point that allowed us to remodel it to our liking made it a win.”
The ranch-style home, which includes many renovations and updates, features luxurious living spaces. Exquisite detailing, including wood ceilings, beautifully designed glass doors, gleaming hardwood floors, recessed lighting, and skylights, add a touch of elegance throughout the home. The exterior features are equally eye-catching and include a deck that offers spectacular views and a lovely, spacious yard. And that’s not all: The home also boasts a private beach and a 70-foot pier with a five-foot water depth—making it the perfect waterfront retreat.
“Daily use of our home is so convenient,” says the homeowners. “Seeing the water as we park the car, entering the home with a view of the creek, and being able to cook, relax, and recharge all in a one-level space is terrific. There is plenty of room to entertain friends and family, and the home and the surrounding land offer many different places for our guests to explore and enjoy. The flat front yard overlooking the creek has also allowed us to set up a tent and host crab feasts.”
In addition to owning a beautiful home that offers the homeowners the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing lifestyle on the water, they also love their community and its easy access to amenities.
“We enjoy close proximity to shopping, dining, and recreational opportunities,” says the homeowners. “There is a park adjacent to the community, as well as an indoor/outdoor pool, a climbing wall, and tennis courts at the YMCA, gymnastics facilities, and a driving range. Our favorite restaurant is Café Bretton, and Victor is terrific! A close second is The Point because you can canoe there, and if the wait is long, the libations flow at the outdoor crush bar.”
Although it’s difficult for the homeowners to sell their home and leave behind all that they have created, they came across a rare opportunity to purchase another home that is closer to work and family. But they are confident that the new homeowners will love their beautiful waterfront home.
“We feel as if the next owner will want the ability to access the water directly at a price point similar to a new home in Arnold/Severna Park,” says the homeowners. “Our home’s interior finish improvements are comparable. The two main attractions of our home are the ability to own a powerboat, sailboat—or both—and a finished clean interior. And the pleasant surprise we have experienced is the ease of maintenance.”
