This charming Cape Cod at 217 Old Mill Bottom Road S, Annapolis has such great character and is in pristine condition. The current homeowners fell in love with this 1932 home when they first laid eyes on it. The combination of old world charm and modern amenities is what many people ask for in a dream house. And it wasn’t just the house that swept them off their feet. The 1+ acre lot sealed the deal.
“One of our favorite features of the house is its backyard,” said the current homeowners. “The fact that the kids can run freely, as it is flat land and it is fenced, is absolutely wonderful. With the tree swing and the hammock, it is the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature and have time together as a family. The backyard gives you a feeling of being away from it all. It is private and peaceful, with old trees that remind you of the beautiful historic character and charm inside the home. We spend many evenings snuggled around the fireplace in the living room watching movies as a family. We made a lot of memories in this house.”
While the home is infused with original and charming details, it also has updates including granite kitchen counters, a porcelain farm sink, custom desk, a fenced yard, a generator, and a patio. The spacious paver patio and converted garage are excellent for outdoor entertaining. They look out to the large yard that offers privacy and wide open space.
“It is the perfect house for entertaining,” said the current homeowners. “We are always having parties in the backyard and cookouts. There are two bedrooms on the first floor, which we use as guest rooms, and there is a full bathroom as well. Guests basically have their own wing to stay in while visiting.”
The new owners and their guests can enjoy easy access to Rte. 50, downtown Annapolis and the Naval Academy. The home is only a few minutes away from Broadneck Park, Broadneck Library, shopping in Cape St. Claire, and waterfront dining at Severn Inn.
The current homeowners fell in love with the home and the backyard, but they also quickly discovered another treasure of living in the home – the lasting connections they would make outside of its doors.
“Our neighbors are like our family,” said the current homeowners. “From wedding receptions to our annual Easter egg hunts in our backyard, we have all been a part of each other’s lives since we bought the house and we have all watched our children grow up together. We are heartbroken to leave – the house, the yard, and the neighbors – but we look forward to our new adventure in our new home.”
The current homeowners weren’t planning on moving yet as they love their home but, by chance, they happened upon their new home. They saw it as an opportunity they couldn’t pass up as it fulfills a goal they hoped to reach one day – living on the water.

Walk into 65 Harbour Heights Drive in Annapolis and feel like you are walking into your next home.
That is how the current homeowner felt when she originally purchased the townhome, which is located in a great location for easy access to downtown Annapolis. She was looking for her first home while she was working in downtown Baltimore, and she knew she didn’t want to maintain a large property. In fact, she still has never mowed a lawn to this day! She looked at a bunch of properties with her buyer’s agent, David Orso, and kept coming back to 65 Harbour Heights. Not only did she feel drawn to the home, but the easy access to I-97 and the Baltimore Beltway/295 was a plus.
“Because I loved the area growing up, I focused on Annapolis and its surrounding neighborhoods when I looked for my first home,” said the current homeowner. “Shortly after purchasing my home, I took a job in Washington, DC and found that my commute was still good. With route 50 less than a mile away, I was able to get to the DC Metro stop in no time. In 2011, I took a job in downtown Annapolis. I am so grateful that with all 3 of my post-college full-time jobs, I have had an easy commute to work, mostly thanks to the convenient location of my first home!”
The current homeowner has added several upgrades during the five years she has lived there, including granite countertops, upgraded flooring, new carpet and paint, upgraded lighting fixtures, and a new washer and dryer. She also replaced the brass door fixtures with nickel ones.
“Whenever I have friends or family over, I am always complimented on my home and the décor,” said the current homeowner. “It is clean and simple. My home also has plenty of closet/storage space.”
In addition to the convenience of the location, and the beautiful comforts within the home, the homeowners association and neighborhood has also provided a positive living experience.
“The homeowners' association does a great job with landscaping and keeping everything in the community looking fresh,” said the current homeowner. “All of the neighbors are very friendly and frequently invite each other over for dinner or cocktails. We all look out for each other – if you accidentally leave the lights on in your car at night, need someone to meet a contractor at your house, or just need someone to talk to – the Seabreeze neighbors are there to help. Plus, there is plenty of parking, so you never have to worry about not being able to find a spot.”
The location of the home allows for easy access to lots of shopping, dining, and entertainment options.
“The Annapolis Mall is walking distance (or seconds away in the car),” said the current homeowner. “The Towne Center, with upscale shopping and restaurants, is also just a few minutes down the road. On Fridays in the summer, the Towne Center hosts free concerts with complimentary food. These concerts, and other recurring events at the Towne Center have been one of my favorite activities to partake in. They are perfect for date night, but also kid-friendly. There is truly ‘something for everyone.’”
“Downtown Annapolis and the City Dock area are less than a 10-minute drive from the property. The cultural scene in Annapolis includes theater, a local symphony and opera, and dozens of art galleries. There are plenty of boutique shops and restaurants.”
While it is obvious that the current homeowner adored her home, community and location, she has found another love in her life and is getting married! She is selling her current home and looking to find a single-family home with her fiancé.

This summer you can simply move on in and start enjoying all the home and community has to offer…that is…when you select a home like 874 Mago Vista Road in Arnold!
This meticulously maintained home is ready for its new owners. It is perfect for entertaining with its updated kitchen and inviting family room.
“My favorite feature of the house is the updated kitchen with all Kenmore Elite stainless steel appliances and the pass-through,” said the current homeowner. “The family room is an ideal place to entertain, and when I am preparing and serving food for family and friends, the pass-through allows me to still be a part of the party when I'm in the kitchen.”
This charming split foyer home has a layout that is great for not only entertaining, but also for everyday living.
“I love having the kitchen on the first floor because when I go grocery shopping I can just back my car up to the patio and unload the groceries. I don't have to lug the groceries up any steps!” said the current homeowner. “It is great having the kitchen, dining room, study, family room and laundry room on the first floor. When I am doing laundry, I can cook, work on the computer or watch TV and don't have to go up and down the stairs.”
The current homeowners were attracted to this home due to its location, as it is located in the coveted Broadneck School District and across from Belvedere Elementary. The community is also water-privileged and offers many amenities that are great for families.
“The neighborhood is a very family-oriented and everyone is friendly,” said the current homeowners. “There is a great park down the street on Mago Vista that has swings and our grandchildren love to play there when they come to visit. Belvedere Elementary has a great park behind and to the side of the school that has baseball fields and a big soccer field and a path that our grandkids love to ride their bikes on. We love taking our dog for long walks on the weekends through all the communities and both parks. And at the end of Haskell Road is a park where you can put your boat in the water or have a picnic.”
With the all local amenities and the proximity to Annapolis, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, the new owners of this home can enjoy numerous dining, shopping and entertainment options. Some of the options the current homeowners suggested include:
- The Point Restaurant
- The Marina where you can put your boat in the water
- Downtown Annapolis (Naval Academy, unique shops and great restaurants) is only 6.5 miles away
- Sandy Point State Park
“When our family and friends come to visit they love to go to Annapolis,” said the current homeowners. “And it is only a 10-minute drive to the Bay Bridge or Sandy Point State Park - where you can swim, fish, put your boat in the water or attend one of the many different events that go on all the time at the park.”
While it is obvious that the current homeowners have enjoyed this home and community, they are ready to move back to Pennsylvania to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

The Millennial generation or Generation Y are those individuals who were born between 1981 and 1997 (Pew Research Center), though the timeframe differs depending on your source. The Millennials are projected to surpass the Baby Boom generation as the nation’s largest living generation this year, according to the population projections released by the U.S. Census Bureau. In the Baltimore Metro area, Millennials make up 13.8% of the total population (2010-2012), and 27.8% of people moving. This generation currently comprises the largest share of home buyers at 32 percent and it also makes up the largest share of first-time buyers at 68 percent, according to the National Association of REALTORS.
Given that, we thought you might like to know that a separate laundry room tops this generation’s most-wanted list for a home, according to a survey conducted by the National Association of Home Builders. This doesn’t mean that you need to call up a contractor to get one built, but if you plan to list your home, don’t forget to spruce up the laundry area. With some creative rearranging and staging, you can dress up a “washed-up” old laundry room into something that a buyer might consider an asset in the home.
Storage such as linen closets, a walk-in pantry, and garage storage also ranked high in the survey, along with energy efficient features.
